This panel will discuss the sustained nature of urban activist practice as it pertains to artist interventions, community building initiatives, and protest movements. Specifically, panelists will examine the capacities and limitations imposed by protracted struggle raising issues of violence, history, affect, place-making, and more generally the maintenance of productive momentum. Panelists will both confront this issue theoretically and scrutinize specific cases of urban activist practice in order to draw out the implications of duration for urban activism.
