The paper, taking Manchester and Hangzhou as the cases, in to explore the features and outcomes of urban transformation in UK and China. Through a systematic literature review, the paper interprets the conception, forces and development approach patterns of urban transformation from the comparative perspective, and follows the analysis of urban transition strategies and polices. Also, the coupling system model is employed to evaluate the fusion between urban recreation and creative city. The empirical analysis examines, from the perspective of urban planning policy, industries and society. The paper finally finds the similarities and differences of the urban transformation between the UK and China.
